The Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) designation is the only globally accepted certification for internal auditors and remains the standard by which individuals demonstrate their competency and professionalism in the internal auditing field. Examination Style
  • Each part consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions and has to be finished within 2 hours and 45 minutes.
  • Parts I, II, and III are considered the core global syllabus of the CIA exam - offering a strong focus on corporate governance and risk issues and exhibiting alignment with The IIA's Professional Practices Framework.
  • Part IV of the CIA exam is designed for modification for regional and audit specialization testing.
Examination Passing Score
Because the exact number of questions required to pass the exam may be slightly different from one test to another, all raw scores (the number of correct responses) are converted to a reporting scale that ranges from 250 to 750 points. A score of 600 or higher on this scale is required to pass an IIA exam.
